Signal Clamp: a device designed to induce a current using a signal generator into a disconnected or non-live service. Typical example is Street Lights where power is only supplied to the circuit during the night meaning that during daylight hours the tracing of the cables is not possible using conventional ‘Power’ mode on a cable locator. Using a signal clamp will induce a current into the service allowing traceability.

Cable Locators and their associated accessories are used to locate buried services. The services are detected using one of three modes. Power mode 50-60 Hz - used to trace live loaded and energised services. Radio Mode 15-30 KHz – used to trace metallic services that may not have a power signal present e.g. Telecoms cable, metallic gas and water pipes. Surveying Equipment .com has a wide selection of cable location devices availiable for hire
